The Sunderland players whose futures will be ‘resolved’ this week as Mike Dodds outlines plans

Sunderland are starting up their plans for next season following the end of the Championship campaign.

Mike Dodds says discussions will take place this week to’resolve’ the futures of Sunderland players who are not under contract for next season.

Dodds has already began meeting with each member of the senior team to reflect on their season and identify areas for improvement over the summer and into preseason. These conversations will continue this week, and Dodds will also attend a club hierarchy meeting to advance summer recruitment plans. The interim manager is also awaiting an update on the search for a new head coach, after focusing on the Championship season’s final fixtures in recent weeks.

Sunderland is also anticipated to provide clarification to Corry Evans and Bradley Dack, the two senior players on the senior squad whose contracts expire this summer. A decision will be made on Callum Styles, who is presently on loan from Barnsley. Sunderland has the option to convert the loan into a permanent deal this summer.
“We have certain players who have gone out on loan and will be returning to the football club, and we need to touch base with them about their thoughts and the input we’ve received from those clubs. We have individual meetings planned with a lot of players to provide them with personalised input, which I believe is very essential. I’ve stated that in order to move forward, I believe the club, as well as the players, must learn from the experience. I have scheduled individual meetings with all of the players. I’ve already had some, and I have more set for next week, which will include individual feedback on where they’ve been in terms of their performance on the pitch as well as their performance off the pitch. I want to make sure they understand the expectations for next season.”
