‘Kopite Revenge’ – Liverpool-mad BBC presenter trolled live on air after Everton win

Following the Merseyside derby, Everton supporter Jamie Taylor live-tweeted his coworker, BBC Radio Ulster presenter and Liverpool supporter Connor Phillips.

Taylor revealed to his opponent that he had filmed a special interview with Green Day specifically for the event.

The rock group’s leader, Billie Joe Armstrong, who supports Everton personally, was shown in the video congratulating the Toffees on winning the Merseyside derby.

Taylor proceeded to ridicule Phillips even more on social media, sharing a video of the presenter’s response on X along with the remark, “Sorry Connor Phillips, you’ve taken the brunt of my Kopite revenge.” Trauma from Derby Day that has been building for 15 years. UTFT!

Everton celebrate their much anticipated win.

It’s obvious that Everton supporters are still having a great time celebrating their long-awaited triumph against their rivals at Goodison Park.

The Toffees’ last victory over Liverpool occurred in 2021, when they defeated the Reds 2-0 at Anfield under Carlo Ancelotti. It was their first victory since a 1-0 victory in 1999. Richarlison opened the score early, and Gylfi Sigurdsson’s late penalty sealed the three points.

But the blue half of Merseyside hasn’t been allowed to celebrate a derby triumph at home since October 17, 2010. In that victory, which again came by a 2-0 score, Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta scored as a team led by Tim Howard, Phil Jagielka, and Leighton Baines defeated a Liverpool squad that also included Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard, and Fernando Torres.

This most recent derby victory at Goodison Park is especially significant because Everton is scheduled to depart from its historic stadium, which they have called home since 1892 and which has played host to more premier league games than any other venue in England, at the end of the following season.

The victory over Liverpool on April 24 at Goodison could be the final one ever if Everton doesn’t repeat their derby triumph in the corresponding fixture in 2024–2025, thanks to goals from Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

In one way or another, supporters of the Toffees would have appreciated the opportunity to celebrate a derby victory at Goodison at least once more.
