Chris Wood set to quit Nottingham Forest

Chris Wood could look to leave Nottingham Forest if they are relegated from the Premier League this season.

On the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior writer Pete O’Rourke revealed that there will be takers for Wood if Forest fail to confirm their top-flight position in the coming weeks.

The New Zealand international has been in top form for the Reds this season, with his goals keeping them three points clear of the relegation zone.

O’Rourke confessed that the 32-year-old attacker, whose contract expires in June 2025, is one of several Forest players whose reputations have improved as a result of their performances this season.

While Forest has dealt with a number of challenges this season, the majority of which have occurred off the pitch, Wood has had a fantastic year personally.

The forward has scored 12 goals in 29 Premier League appearances, accounting for more than a quarter of the Reds’ 45 league goals.

Although Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side is only still in the relegation battle due to a four-point deduction for violating the league’s spending regulations, they would likely be in serious trouble without Wood’s goals.

The New Zealander’s form and extensive experience in the top division make him an appealing choice for any team wanting to add some firepower to their squad next season.

However, if the Reds can secure another year in the Premier League as the season comes to a close, they will be in a great position to keep him.
