‘Agreement in place’ – Newcastle United and Man Utd’s European rivals West Ham set for major move

‘Agreement in place’ – Newcastle United and Man Utd’s European rivals West Ham set for major move.

West Ham are apparently nearing an agreement with David Moyes’ successor at the London Stadium.

Julen Lopetegui is allegedly close to replacing David Moyes as manager of West Ham. Moyes’ current contract expires at the conclusion of the season, and he is anticipated to depart his position as manager after the season ends.

The Hammers were thrashed 5-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, putting their European qualification chances at stake. With only two games left in the season, West Ham knows they must win both of their remaining games and hope that the clubs above them do not win any of their remaining games in order to qualify for European contention.

With Moyes expected to leave the club at the conclusion of the season, speculation about his replacement has led to two prospective contenders, with Lopetegui and Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim seen as the most likely to succeed the 61-year-old. According to Fabrizio Romano, the former Wolves player is expected to take up the position.

Taking to X, Romano wrote: ‘EXCL: Julen Lopetegui has agreed to become West Ham’s new head coach, succeeding David Moyes, starting next season. Lopetegui has accepted the #WHUFC plan and is ready to move forward to the formal phases. Details are being finalized, and contracts will be signed once an agreement is in place.

Lopetegui was manager of Wolves for less than a season before leaving on the eve of the current season. Despite just managing Real Madrid for 14 games at the start of the 2018/19 season, the 57-year-old can count them among his past employers.
