Rosenior: I couldn’t be more proud of my players.

Hull City manager Liam Rosenior said he couldn’t be prouder of his players after last night’s 3-3 draw with Town, which keeps the Tigers’ play-off ambitions alive heading into their last game, and wished the Blues luck for the rest of the season.

The East Yorkshire side is eighth, two points behind West Brom, who slid into the final play-off spot after losing 3-0 to Sheffield Wednesday yesterday afternoon.

“I have aged about five years,” Rosenior, who spent a season on loan with the Blues under Roy Keane, stated afterwards.

“I am quite proud. I was incredibly pleased of this squad, and not only for today’s game. For everyone who has followed us throughout the season, it is pretty much our season.

“Some amazing football; the players never gave up, despite the fact that it was our third game in a week after playing on Wednesday, and Ipswich had two weeks to prepare while we just had 48 hours.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the guys’ efforts. As a coach, you may be proud whether you lose, win, or draw, but that performance summed us up.

“It could have been 6-6, to be honest. Ipswich had wonderful chances, as did we, but I thought it was a game that reflected well on the Championship. I truly wish Ipswich all the best.

“They’ve been a credit to themselves in the division this year, but we have in our own way as well and there’s plenty to build on at this club and we’ve still got a chance.”

Regarding the goals his side conceded, he said, “They’ve scored some great goals. We can improve on the first goal by clearing it. [Omari] Hutchinson’s two goals were exceptional, demonstrating what great players are capable of. We’re in the game and playing our way.”

Rosenior loves the Championship: “That’s the thing with this league. I adore this league because it is very honest, as evidenced by the results each week.

“Every single team, regardless of whether they have anything to play for. If ‘there is nothing to play for’, every team gives their all every week, which is why this league is so great.

“That is why I worked as a pundit covering it, and now I am really fortunate to be a manager within it.

“The dream is alive. I watched a set of players that played as if their dream was real, players who ran themselves into the ground from minute one to minute 96 and played some wonderful game; Ipswich played excellent football.

“It was toe-to-toe, it was man-for-man all over the pitch and some of the football out there from both teams was kind of football I want to see every week and it was a credit to the Championship.”
