Celtic make former Chelsea and Everton star a transfer ‘target’ to replace favourite heading for the exit door

It has been reported that Celtic has shortlisted Asmir Begovic before the summer transfer window opens.

This season, the goalie currently playing for QPR has made 46 appearances for the English Championship team. Having spent two years at Goodison Park, he left Everton last summer, giving him a wealth of Premier League experience.

The 36-year-old Begovic has also played for Portsmouth, Stoke City, Qarabag, AC Milan, and other teams during his two years at Chelsea. TalkSPORT claims that although he is “open” to staying at QPR, “he’s now wanted in a potential move to Scotland.”

The club has already pushed forward with their intentions to replace number one Joe Hart, with the seasoned Begovic on their shortlist, when Hart retires this summer. Despite the Celtic rumours, the former player for Chelsea and Everton is unsure of his future beyond the summer and has enjoyed his time at QPR.

“I actually don’t know,” he uttered. It’s very understandable that until we crossed the line, no one really talked about anything because my contract expires this summer. We will thus discuss it in the upcoming weeks.

However, the club and its fan base are excellent, and the mood today was fantastic. We were more like who we really should and should be in the second half of the season, so maybe we can hold onto a lot of people and really get things going next year.

“As weird as it seems, I’ve had a great time performing this year. Although I am aware that there have been ups and downs on the squad, it has been enjoyable, and hopefully we can maintain it.

“As I enter my 20th professional season next year, our first priority will be to take a family vacation, play a little golf, and spend quality time with the kids and family.

“After that, I’ll continue to train to stay in shape for next year, play again, and prepare my body to handle the strain that playing 46 games or a full season of football puts on you.” However, I’m really anticipating a vacation right now!
