Sunderland should try to replace Jack Clarke with one of the Championship’s top wingers.

Sunderland’s morale have improved in recent weeks, as they have kept five clean sheets in the previous six games.

Despite a 5-1 loss to Blackburn Rovers at home, we have shown significant improvement from our previous successive defeats earlier this year.

Some of our important players have returned from injury, and fans are enjoying our last games with Jack Clarke in the lineup.

The winger has garnered interest from the Premier League throughout the summer, and our failure to reach the play-offs means he is highly likely to make the step on his own.

While it is upsetting, the Black Cats cannot stop Clarke from winning the championship because he is simply too brilliant.

The 23-year-old will thrive in the Premier League, while we will profit handsomely from his departure, earning £20 million plus fee.

Hypothetically, it should be a nice return, but it does not make replacing him easy.

Sunderland will struggle to find an attacker of Clarke’s caliber who is eager to join us, but we cannot risk signing another kid who may wind up being far from what we require right now.

Rather than turning to football’s Abdoullah Bas and Jewison Bennettes, Kristjaan Speakman should take the risk and make an ambitious move for someone who has already established themselves in the Championship – someone who is one of the finest players in the second tier.

Morgan Whittaker is the solution for Jack Clarke’s leaving.

That’someone’ is Morgan Whittaker, whose inclusion in the Championship Team of the Season demonstrates that he is simply too excellent for Plymouth Argyle.

The winger joined the Pilgrims in 2022 and has since recorded 29 goals and 16 assists in 78 appearances.

Despite Plymouth’s relegation battle this season, Whittaker is on course to score more than 20 league goals and has already contributed 28.

While Plymouth appear to be safe from relegation, it would be extremely remarkable if they were able to retain Whittaker this summer.

Lazio attempted to recruit the 23-year-old in January but failed, with further interest expected at the conclusion of the season.

While ambitious, there should be nothing preventing Sunderland from entering the battle for Whittaker.
