Arthur Melo made only one appearance and played 13 minutes for Liverpool due to injuries.
The Brazilian midfielder joined the club on loan from Juventus in September 2022, with the Reds paying €4.5 million on the one-season agreement, with the option to make it permanent for €37.5 million.
The playmaker’s injury history made it unlikely for him to play in the Premier League, and he left last summer as a forgotten figure with no appearances.
His sole appearance came at the end of a 4-1 Champions League defeat at Napoli.
Arthur, 27, has been able to realign his career this season on another loan, this time to Juve’s fellow Serie A club Fiorentina.
Last week, he struck a penalty in the 13th minute of injury time against Cagliari to secure the Viola’s spot in the UEFA Europa Conference League playoff phase for the following season.
Fiorentina will meet Olympiakos in the tournament’s final on Wednesday, with Arthur hoping to win European silverware for his team.
Fiorentina has the option to make his Juventus loan permanent for roughly €20 million, but the club is unwilling to sign him full-time.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Arthur’s pay is €5.5 million plus bonuses, making it unsuitable for a permanent contract.
Fiorentina paid €2 million for this season’s loan arrangement, but they only took on a portion of the ex-Gremio player’s income and are unable to meet his contract demands.
That means he will return to Juventus unclear of his next move after joining the club from Barcelona in 2020 for up to €80 million.
Miralem Pjanic went the other way in an odd swap move, although Juve never really got the most out of Arthur during his time at the club.
Arthur’s contract at Turin expires in 2026, and he is unlikely to be called upon by incoming Juventus coach Thiago Motta, who was also a candidate for Liverpool’s managerial position.
According to Gazzetta, Napoli, along with two Premier League clubs, are closely monitoring Arthur’s position.
West Ham and Everton have been identified as prospective destinations.
The Toffees are facing financial difficulties due to a failed buyout by 777 Partners, making it uncertain if they will be able to complete the transaction.
