Transfers: Burnley and Sheffield United to challenge Sunderland for a possible replacement for Jack Clarke

According to the most recent transfer rumours There will be rivalry for Sunderland to sign Liam Millar.

According to rumours, Sunderland will face competition from Sheffield United and Burnley for transfers.

With one year remaining on his Basel contract in Switzerland, 24-year-old winger Liam Millar is reportedly attracting interest from Sunderland.

Millar, who joined Preston North End on loan last summer, has made 35 appearances in the Championship this season, tallying five goals and five assists. The attacker, though, is already being linked to Burnley and Sheffield United, two newly demoted teams that will play in the same division as Sunderland the next season.

They also add that Millar, who has one year left on his contract and is anticipated to return to England, is being watched by a number of European teams. If Jack Clarke, a former Leeds United player, were to be transferred during the summer transfer window due to strong interest, Sunderland would probably consider the winger as a replacement.

After progressing through the ranks at Liverpool, Millar enjoyed loan stints at Kilmarnock and Charlton Athletic before signing a permanent contract with Basel in 2021. However, after spending last season enjoying a season on loan with The Lilywhites in the Championship, Millar has also been linked to a return to Preston North End.

Last month, manager Ryan Lowe responded to a question on if Preston North End could sign Millar permanently again this summer, saying, “Listen, Liam – I won’t go into too much detail on what we speak about – but he loves it here.” His parents live nearby, and he has made this place his home. His family is all here. He adores it, but once more, he is not one of our players; rather, a football team owns him, paid for him, and regards him highly. Depending on those values; it’s difficult, isn’t it, because if you look at the players we’ve had here in the past, we’ve coached them, given them game time, and they’ve performed before leaving for large sums of money.

“It’s okay that we pay their salaries but receive nothing in return. We knew Liam would have a great season, and he has. He’s been greatly missed lately, as he’s an incredible player. However, the only thing we can do is possibly present our best proposal. He is aware of our desire to keep him, and I believe Basel is aware of this as well. Although it’s simple for us to declare that we want to keep him, I believe Liam’s kind of contract fits well with how we operate.

He is therefore 100% affordable; the question is whether or not he is affordable to purchase. The question is whether Peter and Basel’s agent can work out a deal on it. Other teams will undoubtedly be interested in him, but ultimately, you are powerless to change our value if it is significantly higher than theirs. However, Liam has enjoyed his time here and has shown a desire to stay; the question is if we can work out a plan with his parent club.
