Sunderland star under consideration to replace former Chelsea and West Ham wingers

Sunderland star under consideration to replace former Chelsea and West Ham wingers.

The latest transfer buzz from the Stadium of Light: one current Sunderland star is eyed by a Serie A team.

Lazio, a Serie A club, is allegedly interested in Sunderland winger Jack Clarke.

According to Correire dello Sport, the Black Cats star is being considered for a move to Italy alongside former Chelsea winger Pedro and ex-West Ham United player Felipe Anderson. The former Premier League duo are nearing the end of their current contracts at the Stadio Olimpico and appear to be on their way elsewhere next season.

During the January transfer window, Lazio were extensively connected with a bid for Clarke, but their £14 million offer for the former Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United winger was reportedly rejected.

Clarke has continued to attract the attention of multiple possible suitors this season, having scored 15 goals and provided four assists in 40 games across all competitions. The fact that Clarke has two years left on his present contract at the Stadium of Light puts the Black Cats in a strong negotiating position, albeit there has been no indication that they will allow one of their important players to leave.

Clarke’s stance is mentioned in the latest reports in Italy, who have revealed Clarke has ‘come back into fashion’ for Lazio. However, the Serie A club may find it difficult to convince Sunderland to sell a player who has attracted attention from Burnley, West Ham United, and Southampton during his time at the Stadium of Light.

Clarke discussed his future in an interview with Sky Sports earlier this season, saying, “I’m thrilled to remain here. I relish every minute of playing for Sunderland and putting on my shirt. For me, what is said on the outside does not appear to concern me. I’m pleased as long as I come in every day wearing a Sunderland shirt.
