Mad’ – Sutton responds to ‘Seriously Worrying’ Rangers claim made live on BBC

Rangers: Chris Sutton responds live on BBC to ‘seriously worrying’ Ibrox claim after Celtic loss.

Chris Sutton describes Glasgow as a “mad” town right now, with both Rangers and Celtic fans worrying about their respective teams’ title hopes.

This weekend, both teams tasted defeat for the first time since 2018, in a dramatic 24 hours in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers lost 2-1 at home to Motherwell on Saturday (2 March), while Celtic fell 2-0 against Hearts on Sunday (3 March).

On March 3rd at 7:24pm, George called BBC Radio 5 Live’s 606 call-in to express concern about the Gers’ performance.

The caller went on to remark that “even though they’ve won 11 in a row, hardly any of them have been convincing”.

In reaction, Sutton stated: “It’s crazy in Glasgow because both sets of fans are feeling the same way.

“That’s an interesting one. I was with Kris Boyd today; he graciously gave me a lift, and we chatted afterwards.

“Of course, he was pleased that Celtic lost, but they could have been five points ahead already.

“This one’s for you, George. What Philippe Clement has accomplished since his arrival must be reversed. He discovered a way to win games.

“The Kilmarnock game was a real banana skin, but they came back to win. Overall, you must be thrilled to be in this situation right now.”

Rangers and Celtic are neck and neck in title battle.

Rangers fans should brace themselves because there will be plenty more twists like this before the season concludes.

For all the talk about the Gers running away with it after defeating Celtic, that was never going to be the reality.

With a handful of Old Firms still to come, followers on both sides of the Old Firm divide can’t afford to be overly confident.

Every setback, like in this case, will cause alarm; every victory will be celebrated as the outcome that may secure the crown.

As difficult as it is to admit, Sutton makes a valid point. Rangers fans should step back and recall where they were a few months ago.

Despite the disappointment of Motherwell’s setback, supporters should continue to support the team in the upcoming title race.
