Everton will travel to Turf Moor to face Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday (16 December).

Though they were docked ten points, the Toffees are currently playing fantastically and have already left the drop zone.

Paul Merson has hinted that they will also be eliminated from the relegation fight if they defeat Burnley this coming weekend. He believes the Toffees are in a “false position” because of their current high level of confidence

of the deduction.

Without the punishment, Everton ought to be ahead of Chelsea right now, demonstrating the amazing work Sean Dyche has done in a short amount of time.

He will be hoping to defeat his old team, who are now ranked 19th in the Premier League.

He has predicted a 2-1 win for the Toffees.

“A few weeks ago, Burnley would’ve looked at this game and fancied their chances, but Everton are flying at the moment. Sean Dyche has got his team playing the way he wants and they are on a bit of a run, so I expect them to win this one,” said Merson to SportsKeeda.

“If Everton win at Turf Moor, they are out of the relegation battle despite the ten-point deduction, which is absolutely incredible. They are in a bit of a false position in the league –

if it wasn’t for the sanction, they’d be ninth or tenth in the standings! That said, the margins are very fine, as they could once again be dragged into a relegation dogfight if they lose this one.

“The Toffees are riding high on confidence and should win this one.”
