Norwich City are heading in the right direction under Johannes Hoff Thorup
Under new manager Johannes Hoff Thorup, Norwich City has had a successful season thus far and is aiming to return to the Premier League.
At Carrow Road, there was a significant player turnover throughout the summer, and the Canaries lost some very important players, such as Jon Rowe and Gabriel Sara.
However, Thorup has demonstrated that he can grow and enhance players who were already at the club, and the new hires have adapted well.
Borja Sainz and Kellen Fisher have flourished under Johannes Hoff Thorup
To many, the biggest success story for Norwich has been Borja Sainz this season, with the Spaniard arguably the standout player in the whole league in the first few months.
The 23-year-old has scored ten goals in 12 games, as well as registering two assists, and he has been a joy to watch with his pace and dribbling ability.
So, it was inevitable that Norwich fan pundit Zeke namechecked Sainz when he was asked by FLW which player had surprised him this season. But, the attacker wasn’t the only one picked out, as he also heaped praise on Kellen Fisher for how he has forced his way into the XI.
“It’s challenging to take the biggest surprise positively since Borja Sainz is undoubtedly shocking. He is performing at a higher level than he did the previous season, but Fisher has truly caught me off guard.
“He’s still young, and he didn’t play much last season.” One of the players you wouldn’t have forgotten from the previous season was Jack Stacey, who finished in the top five for Player of the Year.
He is excellent in every game, thus it was shocking to see him lose his spot to Fisher. You can see that he has promise since, even at the age of 20, he is incredibly strong, reads the game well, makes tackles, and has more to offer.
Fisher made his debut and appeared nine times for Norwich in the previous season after being signed by the team from Bromley in 2023, when they were a non-league team.
However, he has now made a name for himself in Thorup’s starting lineup, and he will be hoping to hold onto that position as Norwich battles for a top six finish in the upcoming months.
Norwich City are heading in the right direction under Johannes Hoff Thorup
Being a Norwich supporter is exciting right now because the team is improving on the pitch under Thorup, and a new era is beginning in the boardroom as a group lead by Mark Attanasio now has the majority of the company’s shares.
As previously stated, Thorup hasn’t achieved this successful start by lavishing money on players, and he had to deal with the loss of his two best players during a busy and unpleasant summer transfer window.

However, Norwich has been pleasantly surprised by the manner he has strengthened the team; the question now is whether they can continue to build on it and continue in the upcoming months.
In any case, Thorup is capable of leading Norwich to success with additional encouragement and funding.
