Some supporters dispute Gunn’s abilities, but the 28-year-old has been a mainstay in the starting XI for the past two seasons. With 150 appearances for Norwich City and 31 Premier League games under his belt, he is nearing the milestone.

The fact that he has held a starting berth under another new coach, Thorup, demonstrates the value management perceive in him, and this is unlikely to alter very soon.

As a result, it might be a hectic time for sporting director Knapper.
