BBC NEWS; ‘On the case’ – Norwich City manager provides an update on first-team mainstay’s contract status.
Norwich City manager Johannes Hoff Thorup confirms that sporting director Ben Knapper is reviewing player contracts, including that of goalkeeper Angus Gunn.
Norwich City’s start to the Thorup era has been rocky, but recent results suggest a promising future.
The Canaries have won three out of their previous four Championship games, including the last two. After a 4-1 win against Watford, they defeated Derby County 3-2 away from home.
The Canaries’ manager’s statements imply that effort is being done to lock him down to a new contract, so time will tell if there is any progress on that front in the coming weeks and months.
Other out-of-contract players
Gunn is not the only player in the final year of his contract with Norwich City.
As a result, it might be a hectic time for sporting director Knapper.
Transfermarkt reports that many players, including Ashley Barnes, Onel Hernandez, Grant Hanley, George Long, Christian Fassnacht, Jacob Sorernsen, Archie Mair, Tony Springett, Jaden Warner, and Jonathan Tomkinson, will see their contracts expire next summer.
Many of them will believe they have a future to fight for, so only time will tell who wins new contracts.
