The team will face Stevenage on Tuesday night, looking to add three points after a late win against Peterborough United at the weekend. However, contracts in the North West are also being monitored.

Bolton Wanderers manager Ian Evatt was questioned about the situation before of their midweek match against Alex Revell’s team. Evatt stated that the aim remains to return to the third division.

Speaking to The Bolton News, he stated:

“Things are moving forward all the time, and whether players are under contract or out of contract, they all know where they stand, which is crucial.

“We will continue to watch the situation and make announcements when we believe the timing is appropriate.

“But for the time being, we’re just focused on the task at hand, which is getting back where we want to be. I don’t think we’re a million miles away right now; we’ve worked hard to get there, but we’re not there yet.”

Players at Bolton Wanderers appear to have clarification on their contract circumstances, but this has not yet been made public. That appears to be the case for more than simply those whose contracts end in 2025.

However, as 2024 comes to a close, those players will be the top priority.

A number of players’ contracts expire next year, and they are of various importance. Josh Sheehan, Ricardo Santos, Nathan Baxter, and Josh Dacres-Cogley, all first-team regulars, have contracts that expire in 2025.

Scott Arfield, Gethin Jones, Randell Williams, Luke Matheson, and Luke Hutchinson are also in the final year of their contracts.

The task at hand

Bolton Wanderers are focusing on contract negotiations as they aim to reach the top of League One. A win over Stevenage on Tuesday would put them in 5th place and qualify for the play-offs.

Some of those surrounding the Trotters will have a game in hand, but returning to the top six after such a terrible start would be a huge lift for Evatt’s players.

They appear to have regained their footing, and their difficulties are gradually fading into the past, albeit Wanderers will need to be on their game to avoid a similar expensive fall.
