Birmingham teenager dies after being shot on residential street in city

After the adolescent was shot on a Birmingham residential street, a 25-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of murder.

Shots were fired at 10.30 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, on Alderson Road in Washwood Heath, prompting the call for emergency services.

After being taken to the hospital in critical condition, a 19-year-old guy passed away two days later on Monday due to his irreversible injuries.

On Sunday, October 20, a 40-year-old lady and two men, ages 46 and 22, were taken into custody from a vehicle on Alum Rock Road. While investigations are ongoing, they have all been freed on police bail.

On Monday, a 25-year-old male was taken into jail on suspicion of murder and is currently being questioned by detectives.

West Midlands Police statement

“We are sending our condolences to the young man’s family, who are receiving support from specialized officers during this trying time,” stated Detective Inspector James Mahon of West Midlands Police’s Homicide Unit.

“Even though this investigation is progressing quickly, I would still like to hear from anyone who was nearby and might have seen or heard something to come forward.

“We are conducting additional patrols in the region since we think this was an isolated incidence. Please speak with our officers if you have any concerns, as we are aware of the alarming effects such acts may have and they will be reassuring the community.
