The Super League and NRL championships could determine whether the World Club Challenge is canceled in 2025 due to logistical concerns.

According to Love Rugby League, the 2025 edition could be in jeopardy based on which clubs win the NRL and Super League.

With the yearly match between the Super League and NRL champions taking place in 2023 and 2024, the World Club Challenge has proven to be one of the best additions to rugby league following the Covid pandemic.

The Super League team has prevailed both times, with St. Helens and Wigan Warriors defeating Penrith Panthers in thrilling victories, but there’s now a chance that we won’t see the match in 2025 at all.

The NRL and Super League’s presence in Las Vegas is the main logistical concern, which puts the World Club Challenge in jeopardy for 2025.

The World Club Challenge’s potential dates, locations, and situations have all been divided down based on the several results that could occur over the course of the next few weeks.

In 2025, will there be a World Club Challenge?

As the season draws to a close, Hull KR will host Warrington in the Super League semi-finals, Wigan will host Leigh, and Penrith Panthers will play Melbourne Storm in the NRL Grand Final.

Three of those six teams will participate in the Las Vegas expedition the following year, which is scheduled for March 1st and is comparable to Super League Round Two. This could pose a significant problem.

As it stands, there are three options involving the World Club Challenge which we’ve analyzed.

There is a World Club Challenge in England.

However, Penrith Panthers, the current three-time-consecutive champions would not want to come to England due of their vacation to Las Vegas. Should the Panthers prevail, the game would take place in Australia since they would be delighted to host and then depart for Vegas afterward.

There will be no World Club Challenge in 2025.

That fact, however, is not without controversy. Logistics would probably force the game to be canceled if Wigan or Warrington prevail in the Super League Grand Final.

In the event that Penrith wins the Grand Final, neutrals will be rooting for a Hull KR or Leigh Grand Final victory to guarantee that the World Club Challenge takes place in 2025. This is because Warrington and Wigan would not be able to travel to Australia and then to Las Vegas to play one other.

The weekends of February 22 and 23, which would likely be the date if Melbourne wins and then travels to England, or February 15 and 16, which, in the event that the Panthers win, would see either Hull KR or Leigh travel to face Penrith in Australia, are the important dates to keep in mind.
