“Absolutely incredible” – Tom Wagner issues passionate message to Birmingham City supporters

Tom Wagner has issued a passionate message to Birmingham City supporters after the club extended their unbeaten start to the League One campaign with a 1-0 victory over Huddersfield Town.

Blues came into the game off the back of six consecutive League One victories, defeating Wrexham, Rotherham United, and, most recently, Peterborough United, and many expected them to extend their winning streak to seven for the first time since December 1946.

They and Huddersfield were both relegated from the Championship in May and share the same goal of immediately returning to the second division.

However, Alfie May’s second-half goal helped Chris Davies’ team defeat Michael Duff’s men, as they once again dominated their opponents at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park.

Of course, Birmingham is in the spotlight in the third tier due to their notoriety and transfer activity, but that hasn’t detracted from the inner focus as they extended their early season advantage at the top of the league.

The feeling surrounding Blues right now is one of tremendous confidence and optimism, as seen by their record of seven wins and one draw to begin the season – the club’s longest unbeaten streak at the start of a season since October 1990.

Despite an initial setback in their long-term ambitions for the club, Wagner, Tom Brady, and CEO Garry Cook could not have done more to endear themselves to fans, with the chairman issuing a passionate verdict on his Instagram account following the midweek victory.

Wagner began, “Make it seven in a row for @bcfc!”

Birmingham City must continue this wave of positive momentum

Some feel that Birmingham have yet to reach peak performance levels, with several players still in the early stages of their careers with the club.

Chris Davies

That is, of course, a fairly frightening indication for the other 23 League One sides, given that Davies’ side has already amassed 22 points out of a potential 24 at this stage.

Many would have considered Wrexham, Rotherham, Peterborough, and Huddersfield to be among of the tougher tests that the title favourites would face, but they have all passed with flying colors while demonstrating a variety of parts of their game.

The Blues manager was quick to point out the high standards set by his squad, which has resulted in such a promising start to his own managerial career.

“I thoroughly enjoyed it (the seventh consecutive victory). “The achievement speaks volumes about what the players are giving,” Davies said.

“That is not just here at the Stadium, that is every day in training and it is only possible if they are all together and working hard and that is exactly what they are doing and they are delivering performances, so full credit to them for that.”

Birmingham will look to extend their league unbeaten streak to nine games and eight consecutive victories when they visit Charlton Athletic on Saturday afternoon. Nathan Jones’ side is currently on a three-game losing streak to Blackpool, Stevenage, and Bristol Rovers.
