Town Verifies O’Shea’s Signature

Town has officially announced the five-year contract signing of Burnley’s Dara O’Shea, a centre defender.

It was revealed yesterday that the Blues paid a further £3 million in add-ons to the original £12 million purchase of the Dubliner.

Burnley central back Dara O’Shea has signed a five-year contract with Town, the team has officially announced.

It was revealed yesterday that the Blues paid a further £3 million in add-ons to the original £12 million purchase of the Dubliner.

For as long as possible, I want to play in the Premier League and put myself to the test against the greatest players in the world, and there isn’t a better location to accomplish that in my opinion.

I’m excited to start working as soon as possible and assimilating into the culture since I know a lot of the guys in the squad and the style of play really suits me, allowing me to showcase my skills and work on my deficiencies.

After a planned deal to the Wolves fell through, the Blues made a bid for O’Shea. It was reported earlier this month that the Republic of Ireland international had chosen to transfer to Brentford rather than accept Town’s offer.

But, that transfer never happened, and it was revealed on Monday that the Blues were considering a move for the Dubliner.

Town insiders played that down, claiming that the Blues were then said to be interested in signing Anel Ahmedhodžić of Sheffield United.

O’Shea, meantime, was on the verge of signing for Wolves until the two teams couldn’t agree on a deal. At that point, Town focused on the 6′ 1″ center-half.

The 26-time international athlete O’Shea joined West Brom after leaving schoolboy team St Kevin’s to begin his English career. He went on loan to Hereford and Exeter when he was with the Baggies.

After spending £7 million on a transfer to Turf Moor last summer, O’Shea played a key role in the Clarets’ 2023–2024 Premier League relegation.

After acquiring O’Shea, the Blues may decide to trade for another centre defender, most likely George Edmundson, who saw just a brief appearance as a substitute against his home team, Manchester City, yesterday afternoon.

There are currently five senior players for Town who are either eligible or have earned caps for the Irish national team. Liam Delap, Marcus Harness, Jack Taylor, Sammie Szmodics, and O’Shea.
