Paul Merson makes a fresh prediction about Everton’s relegation in a “shocked” assessment.

If Sean Dyche were to lead Everton to relegation from the Premier League, Paul Merson would be “shocked.”

Ashley Young’s dismissal throughout the match contributed to the Toffees’ 3-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion in their opening Premier League match of 2024–2025 at Goodison Park.

The former Arsenal player, speaking prior to Sean Dyche’s team’s match against Tottenham, which they eventually lost 4-0, vowed that the Toffees would not be relegated this season.

Before the Spurs game on Saturday, August 24, at 2:19 p.m., Merson made the following statement while speaking live on Sky Sports: “I don’t see them going down.” The problem with them is that they will always play in the same manner since they will never alter their strategy.

It becomes a challenge when the team at the bottom doesn’t adjust when they’re having trouble. Good football is played by Southampton, Ipswich Town, and Leicester City. It will be considerably more difficult if they start losing football games and have to alter their style of play.

“Everton will perform in the same manner throughout.”

Will Everton avoid relegation for the the third straight season?

Even though Dyche’s team managed to end 14 points above the dropzone with a total of eight points removed from the previous season, Evertonians have grown rather accustomed to the sense of fighting relegation.

With the Merseyside team giving up seven goals while scoring none in their first two games, the Toffees may be in for another challenging season at Goodison Park.

Although many supporters anticipate Dyche’s team to have a difficult season, keeping the ball out of the goal was crucial to the team’s survival in the Premier League last year.

But it’s understandable that they’re having trouble given that James Garner and Jarrad Branthwaite have yet to recover from their injuries, and Ashley Young is currently suspended after receiving a red card against Brighton.

Fortunately, the Toffees still have 36 league games remaining and plenty of opportunities to pick up three points, but it appears that another relegation struggle is in the works.
