Conflicting developments emerge over Emerson Royal’s future at Tottenham

During the current transfer window, Emerson Royal’s future at Tottenham Hotspur has dominated public coverage.

Along with the rest of the Tottenham first team, the Brazilian is now in Japan getting ready for Saturday’s matchup against Vissel Kobe in Tokyo.

After losing his spot in Ange Postecoglou’s starting lineup to Pedro Porro in the last campaign, the right-back has been strongly linked to leaving the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before the transfer window shuts the following month.

The team that has been cited the most as a possible destination for Royal is AC Milan; however, reports suggest that both teams have been able to come to an agreement when it comes to the bargaining table.

There are conflicting reports on Emerson Royal’s future

Gianluca Di Marzio stated on Tuesday that Milan and Tottenham were getting closer to a deal for the 25-year-old, and that the transaction would hopefully be finalised within the next few days. This seemed to be a breakthrough.

The print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, another Italian publication, stated on July 24, 24, that Spurs still have the option to accept AC Milan’s €10 million (£8.3 million) bid.

Since Di Marzio made no mention of an enhanced transfer fee in his report, it was only reasonable to presume that a larger offer was made.

Gazzetta, on the other hand, appears to have thrown cold water on the aforementioned story, stating that Milan has not made any new approaches and that they are instead waiting for Spurs to accept.

Daniel Levy is unlikely to accept an £8.3 million offer for the defender given his likelihood of receiving further offers, particularly from Saudi Arabia.
