Fabrizio Romano responds to “really surprising” transfer deal- “Congratulations to Man United.

Fabricio Romano, a transfer news analyst, has commended Manchester United for their summer signing of Leny Yoro from Lille, calling it a “really surprising” decision.

Romano, who spoke exclusively to CaughtOffside for the most recent episode of The Debrief Podcast, claims that the gifted young Frenchman came to a nearly complete agreement with Real Madrid after shining in Ligue 1 and establishing himself as one of the best young players in Europe.

Romano congratulated Man Utd and complimented them for this unexpected agreement, but he also acknowledged that, up until a few days before the Red Devils finalised the deal after making a strong bid for the 18-year-old, he fully anticipated Yoro to end up at Real Madrid.

Yoro has since moved on to play preseason for United, and fans will undoubtedly be thrilled about his enormous potential as the team begins to truly step up its recruitment with the inclusion of Joshua Zirkzee and Yoro, two outstanding long-term players.

Yoro transfer surprised Fabrizio Romano

Leny Yoro looks an exciting signing by Manchester United

Speaking about the Yoro deal’s outcome, Romano remarked, “To be honest, yes (it was surprising).”Not in the closing stages, as I understood that Manchester United was entering the race strong and had a decent chance of winning ever since that Tuesday when they were able to agree on the amount with Lille. Not a 30–35% likelihood, but a decent one anyway.

But certainly, without a doubt, prior to that. In June, May, or April, I would have said without a doubt, “Real Madrid.” And I believe Leny Yoro would have said without a doubt that Real Madrid was the team at that time of year. He was eager to join Real Madrid, he had a wonderful agreement with them, and his project there was ready.

“So it was really surprising. And congratulations to Man United because to enter the race in that way and to be able to close the deal in almost ten days has been really, really fantastic, surprising in a positive way.

“It was unexpected, not in the final days, but I would say in terms of general feeling of the transfer window, a really surprising and fantastic signing,” the statement goes. “Yoro wanted to fulfil his dream of going to Real Madrid, but then at the end of the day, they didn’t want to pay the same amount of money invested by Manchester United. So their strategy to attack on club side before and then try to convince the player was the winning strategy, while Real Madrid was convinced of Leny Yoro waiting for them probably also till next year when his contract was due to expire.”
