In his first preseason interview, Everton manager Sean Dyche talked about a variety of topics, including his ambitions for transfers and the team’s goals for the 2024–2025 campaign.
Despite several point deductions, which contributed to the Toffees’ challenging 2023–2024 season, Dyche’s team was able to comfortably avoid the relegation zone. Everton can start moving in the right path with new owners approaching and ideally a season with a better financial position.

Dyche has talked about the current summer transfer window on Everton’s official YouTube channel. He has hinted that the Toffees might be in a stronger position to take on the market.
“Perhaps players are leaving right now rather than joining. However, we want to make the appropriate adjustments, along with the correct players and deals. Even though there are still financial obstacles to overcome, our situation has significantly improved.”
In a transfer window when Kevin Thelwell and the recruiting team will be itching to get it right, it feels like a move in the right direction financially for the club. The Toffees have had a difficult few years, but their play in the previous season demonstrated that they have improved.

Dyche continues by saying that while the club will still have difficulties in the transfer market, it is crucial to recruit players in order to elevate the squad to a competitive level.
“We are making every effort to adjust to the [transfer] market while adhering to the Club’s policies and procedures. It has been difficult and continues to be difficult since I came here, but we have demonstrated that we are capable of building a strong squad and being extremely competitive in our signings. Keeping a competitive edge in whatever we do is still crucial.
With the opening of the transfer window, Everton has already added three players: Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa, Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille, and Jack Harrison on loan for another season.

This week, the Everton team will undergo physical testing in Ireland in preparation for Friday’s preseason friendly against Sligo Rovers.
