‘I am moving on…’ – Another Everton midfielder confirms exit amid Onana talksAnother Everton midfielder confirms exit amid Onana talks

Warrington’s time with his hometown club has ended disappointingly during the last two years, just as he appeared to be on track for a first-team debut under Frank Lampard.

After impressing the former manager during the 2022 preseason, the teenager signed a new contract with Everton, despite receiving attention from rival clubs.

However, he moved for a season on loan at League One Fleetwood Town, and despite being a regular there, he returned after Lampard was fired and replaced by Sean Dyche.

The promotion to Championship level with Plymouth Argyle was unsuccessful, as his injury limited him to only four matches in all competitions.

Dyche gave him only his second first-team game for the club, coming on as a late substitute against Sheffield United on May 11, although he clearly had no long-term aspirations for him.

Warrington FC has signed Tim Iroegbunam, a 21-year-old midfielder, from Aston Villa. Chelsea’s Lesley Ugochukwu is a loan target to cover Onana’s position [Foot Mercato, 13 July], therefore Warrington may seek a fresh start elsewhere.
