Everton hold talks with “really good” ace who is keen on a move to Goodison

Whilst their activity in past transfer windows was severely hindered by financial fines, Everton are anxious to put that behind them and utilize this summer to considerably enhance Sean Dyche’s team.

Everton eager to get business done quickly

Even though the window is still early, Everton has already completed a handful of transactions. Tim Iroegbunam, a reputed £9 million acquisition from Aston Villa, became the Toffees’ first summer addition.

Iliman Ndiaye, a former Sheffield United star, followed Iroegbunam through the door at Goodison after moving from Marseille for €20 million (£16.9 million). The Senegal international committed to the Toffees for five years, and he will undoubtedly be a key member of Dyche’s squad for the upcoming campaign.

Even though Everton has already spent money on new players, including Jack Harrison’s loan return, the Toffees are expected to benefit greatly from the impending departure of Amadou Onana. The midfielder from Belgium appears to be nearing completion of his £50 million transfer to Aston Villa, a Premier League team. At Goodison, Onana will be greatly missed, but his exit will provide the team with much-needed cash to add additional players.

With Everton showing no signs of slowing down in the transfer market this summer, the club are now in discussions to sign one of their long-term goals.

Toffees have genuine interest in Championship talent

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano’s X account claims that Everton is keen to move for Wilfried Gnonto of Leeds United this summer. Negotiations between Gnonto’s camp and the Merseyside outfit are reportedly well underway, according to Romano’s report.

The article continues by stating that the Italian winger is eager to come to Goodison Park, maybe as a result of Leeds’ unsuccessful attempt to gain promotion from the Championship the previous year.

Although Gnonto played in the Championship last season, the winger is no stranger to Premier League football, having made an impression for Leeds during their most recent season in the top flight. The Toffees have been eager to sign the 20-year-old since he was linked with a move to Merseyside as far back as last summer. Daniel Farke’s team may be under pressure to sell some of their biggest talents in order to make more additions of their own.

Speaking back in January 2023, Sky Sports analyst and former Man United defender Gary Neville lauded Gnonto’s praises, stating of the player:

“To see someone so mature, so young is very unusual in that position. Sometimes you see potential and talent but watching him so closely, his understanding of where to be, his choice of pass, when to run with it, his awareness of teammates, really good honestly.”

With Gnonto’s departure from Elland Road looking more likely this summer, now could be the time for the Toffees to finally swoop in and bring the player to Goodison Park.
