Eddie Howe latest stance on England job.

As far as HITC is aware, Eddie Howe is the Football Association’s preferred choice to replace Gareth Southgate, and Newcastle United is aware of this.

Following the completion of the European Championships, in which The Three Lions fell 2-1 to Spain in the championship match, the FA announced on Tuesday that Southgate will be stepping down as England’s manager.

On Monday, HITC announced that we had confirmation from sources that Southgate was prepared to leave his position of eight years, and that this is now official.

Eddie Howe is “open” to taking over for Gareth Southgate.

Furthermore, we can now confirm that Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle, is quickly rising to the top of the race to follow Southgate. The FA has been informed that the former boss of Bournemouth is “open” to the notion of leading England.

Howe’s work at Newcastle, when he turned the team from relegation hopefuls to Champions League finalists, has won him immense admiration around the Premier League.

HITC has been notified by the club’s senior brass this summer that “major” upgrades are needed for this season after Newcastle failed to qualify for Europe the previous season.

Although Howe is well-known to have resided in the North East, the England position would theoretically enable him and his family to return to their home in the South West.

The FA was awaiting Southgate’s final choice, but Wembley’s top brass had been researching potential candidates to take over as England manager in order to avoid being taken off guard or unprepared, as HITC has previously verified.

Football Association weighing their options

Howe has emerged as the top choice after the FA put a lot of effort into evaluating the choices as part of that process.

Howe was reportedly at the top of HITC’s list earlier this summer, but the FA is also seriously considering former Chelsea manager Graham Potter and current Under-21 manager Lee Carsley.

HITC has been informed that Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino’s representatives have pressed their credentials with FA executives. It is anticipated that they will select a British-born applicant, however nothing is ruled out at this time.
