A £10 million transfer is completed for Leicester City.

Albert Gronbaek traveled to France after making an impression with Norwegian team Bodo/Glimt, despite being linked to City, Lille, and Galatasaray during the winter.

As Leicester City continues to hunt for an offensive midfielder, one of their targets has moved to France.

Albert Gronbaek has finalized his transfer from Bodo/Glimt to Rennes in Ligue 1, paying an estimated €12 million (£10 million). Over the past several years, the Dane has drawn attention with his goals and assists for the Norwegian team, especially during their European campaigns.

A winter move for Gronbaek was reportedly desired by City, Lille, Galatasaray, and Dean Smith’s Charlotte FC, according to reports that surfaced in Norway before to the January transfer window at the beginning of the year. Shortly after, word spread that City would have to sell players in order to receive any incoming business.

However, Gronbaek was available this summer and might have been given another look, since City needed an attacking midfield player after Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall left. He will, nevertheless, advance in his career at Rennes, who placed 10th in the previous season’s French top division.

The 23-year-old has maintained the strong play that initially made City want to sign him. Gronbaek finished the previous season with six goals in the Europa Conference League and eight goals and two assists in 15 games while competing in Norway’s summer league.

For City, the hunt is still ongoing. The talk of the town is still Matias Soule, the attacker for Juventus, as City is involved in a transfer dispute with Roma. They also have Matt O’Riley of the Celtics on their radar.

After declining the opportunity to remain at Coventry, Callum O’Hare, a free agent, was also speculatively connected to City. However, he recently inked a contract with Sheffield United.
