‘To come back is amazing’ – Former Town forward returns to club on loan

Joe Pigott, a former attacker for Ipswich Town, returned to AFC Wimbledon on a season-long loan from League One team Leyton Orient.

Before joining Ipswich in the summer of 2021, the 30-year-old made 157 appearances for the Dons and scored 54 goals.

Pigott spent the 2022–2023 season on loan to Portsmouth and never really made an impression at Portman Road, scoring three goals in 29 games.

He joined Leyton Orient last summer after leaving the Blues with mutual consent. He did, however, only score four goals in 42 games across all competitions in 2023–2024.

He has recently joined the team of Johnnie Jackson, who placed tenth in League Two the previous year.

Pigott remarked, “I have so much more to give and achieve with this club, but it’s amazing to be back” at Plough Lane.

“My family and I hold Wimbledon in high regard, so it’s difficult for me to be impartial while discussing the unwavering support I’ve received from the fans.

“My main thought is how excited I am to get the chance to perform in front of a full Plough Lane. It will be amazing to finally experience it because I was unable to do so due of COVID-19.
