Leicester ready to offer £12.5m wage packet directly to player after bid to club rejected

Leicester City is preparing to offer a significant contract to one of their transfer targets in order to seal a deal this summer.

Foxes looking for additions

After losing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and manager Enzo Maresca to Chelsea this summer, as well as being restricted by financial fair play laws, the King Power are facing financial constraints as they prepare to return to the Premier League under new manager Steve Cooper.

So far, they’ve added a fresh face in Caleb Okoli, who joined from Atalanta for £12 million.

“I believe it was the right time to take a significant step forward,” Okoli told club media.”I’m quite delighted with my decision, and I’m very excited to start in the Premier League.

“Leicester is a beautiful club, an important club, and the two combined, so I seized the opportunity to come and express myself in the Premier League.” “The Premier League is the world’s best league.”

Cooper’s team has signed Bobby De Cordova-Reid on a free transfer and Chelsea youth prospect Michael Golding to build for the present and future. Wilfred Ndidi is set to sign a new contract at the King Power rather than leaving on a free transfer.

Leicester ready big contract offer

The Foxes are set to return to Serie A and have reportedly entered the race to sign Juventus forward Matias Soule, who is available for around 35 million euros (£29 million) this summer.

Last season, the creative midfielder was on loan at Frosinone alongside Okoli, where he scored 11 goals and assisted three others, but he was unable to prevent the club’s relegation to Serie B.

He has been compared to Eusebio Di Francesco’s winger Domenico Berardi, but his “excellent” dribbling allows him to play more centrally.

“In some ways, he is similar to Berardi, but he needs to improve his goal-scoring ability. He doesn’t lack abilities and has outstanding dribbling, but in the game, he needs to be more deliberate in his decisions,” the Frosinone manager stated in November.

Leicester have already turned down a 25 million euro offer for his services this summer, but according to Tuttosport [via Sport Witness], the Foxes are preparing to offer a 30 million euro package with 5 million euros in add-ons to “entice” Juve into a sale.

On the players’ side, they are willing to pay 15 million euros (£12.5 million) over a five-year contract and have sought the support of Okoli to urge him to choose Leicester over other suitors, with the centre-back a “great friend” of the young player.

If Leicester’s latest signing can help them pull off the move, he might become a fan favourite before he even kicks a ball at the King Power Stadium.
