Kristjaan Speakman confirms Sunderland coaching staff plan and makes Régis Le Bris pledge

Sunderland is looking to add fresh personnel to their backroom crew.

As the club looks to bolster its first-team coaching staff, Kristjaan Speakman has affirmed that Régis Le Bris will have the last word over his assistant.

Le Bris started work on Monday under the current coaching staff of Alessandro Barcherini, Michael Proctor, and Mike Dodds. During his initial news conference, Le Bris said that he would not be bringing any employees from FC Lorient, his former team, with him. However, he clarified that this was a personal choice rather than a club policy. Le Bris would select an assistant, according to Sunderland’s sporting director, and any other appointments would be evaluated in light of any additional qualities that Le Bris and the team felt were necessary.

“I think Regis is really keen to have the best, I think his phrase would be teammates, you know, even as staff,” said Speakman.

“And because of his experience playing academy football, he doesn’t currently have a group of people that he’s worked with. He also made it very evident that he has a profile related to the personnel structure, and we are actively looking to add another assistant that fits that description. After that assistant joins the team, there will undoubtedly be a ripple effect regarding our current standing with regard to the other positions, our goals for growth, and our need to obtain further information regarding the staffing structure.

He is also unaware of the people that work here, including the coaching staff and others. Additionally, because this is such a networked system, changing one element may require changing all the others as well. Therefore, we are currently going through that procedure, just like we did with the previous head coach. Regretfully, time caught up with us and we had to make some bigger adjustments. We are currently reviewing some of the profiles, and in the end, Regis must decide which one he believes to be the greatest assistant profile.”

During his afternoon press conference, Le Bris clarified that he aimed to guarantee that the coaching team possessed a variety of skills, and decisions about the appointment of staff members would be based on this criteria.

“At the moment, I’m discovering how the staff are working and they are working very well,” Le Bris stated.

Together, we identify the skills and assets we require. For instance, someone with the immense ability to oversee the entire process of personal development is what we want. We also need someone who can work with sets creatively and effectively. Here are a few illustrations of the concepts we hope to see realized at the conclusion of the procedure. I’m now figuring out the strengths of the present staff members.
