I normally tell you exactly what I think, but Jack Grealish transfer leaves me in two minds

Alan McInally, a former striker for Aston Villa, expressed his opinion on whether the team should try to sign Jack Grealish.

Alan McInally isn’t sure if he wants to see Jack Grealish come back to Villa considering that signing him would probably need the team to break their transfer record.

Since joining Man City in the summer of 2021, the former Villa captain has won seven medals, including three Premier League titles and the Champions League. However, he has been linked to a transfer away from the Etihad after enduring the painful shock of being left out of the England squad for Euro 2024 after a patchy league campaign.

When asked if Villa should make a move this summer, McInally told Gambling.com, “To bring him back how much is he going to cost because I don’t really know if there’s a figure that has been mentioned, but they’ll still be looking for the guts of 70-75 million.” It’s not as though they will suffer a great deal.

“But it’s clear that Villa’s options are rather limited given this fair play, money juggling, player in, player out, young players, etc. Observe how I’ve visited each of the residences there and how I’m not sure how to respond to this question.

“Grealish returning. Would I desire his return? Perhaps. I’m not sure. I’m not that big. I’m not sure, it’s a very difficult one. Would you like to see a poll asking Villa supporters if they want Jack Grealish back? Seeing how many people would genuinely want him back in the fold would be quite intriguing.

“He’s actually gone to Manchester City, where he’s won a league and a Champions League.” After (Jeremy) Doku arrived, he struggled with injuries, missed a lot of time, and had a falling out with the manager.

“Maybe it’s a fantastic chance for him to return to Villa, gain playing experience under (Pep) Guardiola, and contribute to a team that, with the players we still have and, of course, Ollie Watkins up top, should be able to score goals.

It’s difficult to respond to that. I’m really in the middle, but I usually tell you precisely what I believe instead of sitting on the fence.
