Dyche has already stuck gold on Everton ace who’s worth less than O’Riley

Even with the club’s recent PSR issues, Everton has already made several astute moves in the transfer market in an effort to avoid facing Premier League relegation once more in 2024–2025.

In an effort to avoid having to fight for survival again the following season, Sean Dyche’s team has already signed midfielder Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa. Jack Harrison and Iliman Ndiaye have also joined the team.

Nevertheless, in spite of the recent transactions, the team is still looking to enhance Dyche’s roster, and they are focusing on Matt O’Riley of Celtic to bolster their already strong midfield unit.

The team already boasts a wealth of midfielders, including one who has greatly benefited from Dyche’s coaching at Goodison Park, despite the interest in the Dane.

James Garner’s stats at Everton

James Garner, a midfielder, has made an impression under Dyche in a variety of roles since joining Goodison Park in the summer of 2022.

Before securing his position in the Toffees’ midfield alongside Idrissa Gueye, he was frequently used as a right-back and right-midfielder, with Abdoulaye Doucoure occupying a slightly forward position.

Since moving to Goodison, the former Manchester United kid has made 61 appearances and scored twice, including a well-executed goal against Bournemouth that is still his lone Premier League goal to date.

The former Nottingham Forest loanee’s statistics from the previous season are extremely impressive; this season, he is averaging 1.4 interceptions per game in the Premier League. This season, he has also averaged 2.5 tackles per ninety, showing that he is a ball-winning midfielder for Dyche’s team.

For the Toffees, the 23-year-old has also shown greatness in possession, averaging three clever passes each contest. In his 37 Premier League appearances, the midfielder has also contributed two assists.

James Garner’s market value in 2024

Garner arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2022, having previously played a major role for Manchester United, after joining the team for £9 million.

According to Transfermarkt, Garner is presently valued at £19 million, which is somewhat more than the amount the club paid to sign him, over two years after moving to the North West.

Though the Toffees have recently expressed interest in O’Riley, Brendan Rodgers’ team is demanding £30 million to deal with their Player of the Year, therefore his subsequent worth is less than what Celtic are asking for. They already have an excellent midfield player at their disposal, even though he would be a great addition.

Darren Fletcher, a former Manchester United midfielder, called Garner “top-class.” He has shown his abilities in his first two years on Merseyside, and the young player’s future is truly unlimited.

O’Riley would be an excellent addition to the Toffees, but they would have to pay a pretty penny for his services, with Dyche better off spending the money on other areas such as the forward line to combat their recent goalscoring issues.
