According to reports, Aston Villa is trying to sabotage a deal by competing with a prominent European club for the acquisition of a “special” attacking talent this summer.

With Villa Park qualifying for the Champions League and finishing fourth in the Premier League the previous season, Unai Emery is hoping to bring in elite players during the summer transfer window.

According to a new update from Football Transfers, Aston Villa are interested in signing Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix this summer, hijacking Benfica’s move for him in the process.
The Portuguese giants are thought to be “increasingly confident” of snapping up the 24-year-old, but they “face competition” from the Villans because Emery is personally an “admirer of the Portugal international”.
Given Felix’s exceptional skill as a football player and his 2019 European Golden Boy award—which goes to the most promising young player in Europe—the thought of him wearing a Villa shirt is tantalizing. Alvaro Morata, who played with him at Atletico and saw firsthand how brilliant he is, has also praised Joao’s abilities, stating: “The truth is that Joao has a special talent, that last pass.”
Though some believed the offensive midfielder would be a genuinely world-class talent by now, he hasn’t yet reached the heights many expected of him. Still, he is young enough to continue developing and go close to realizing his potential.
