Sunderland continue talks with 22-year-old after offer rejection

The 22-year-old is one of the best players in the Championship, and it appears that he will push himself farther in the future. The Black Cats, however, are committed to keeping him around for the time being.

As a result, Neil received an offer for a new contract, but reportedly he declined it.

Now, though, sporting director Kristjaan Speakman has provided a new update on the negotiations.

When queried directly about Neil, the important Sunderland official—quoted by The Northern Echo—said that discussions regarding keeping elite players are still continuing on with many players. He declared:
