Player awaiting approval to sign with Celtic Preseason has begun, thus no deal yet.

Paulo Bernardo is unsure of his future when Benfica’s team gets back together for the 2024–2025 campaign.

According to a story published in today’s Portuguese newspaper Record, a number of young Eagles players now hope to make an impression during preseason in order to maintain their spot in the team. The midfield player, who was on loan at Celtic for the previous season, leads a somewhat different life.

The source notes that the 22-year-old is still awaiting a deal between the clubs to enable him to make a permanent move to Celtic.

Bernardo made 33 games while on loan at Celtic, tallying four goals and three assists; his efforts were strong enough for the team to attempt to retain him.

The issue is that the Hoops are now negotiating a new fee because they refused to pay Benfica the €7.5 million that was first agreed upon to make the transfer permanent.

Additionally, it was mentioned that Bernardo’s pay at Benfica was excessive, and it is also a topic of discussion at the negotiating table.
