Newcastle prepare extraordinary move to block Liverpool transfer and shatter Anthony Gordon dream

Liverpool retain interest in signing Anthony Gordon whose head has been turned by the prospect of moving to Anfield, though a report has revealed how Newcastle aim to put the saga to rest once and for all.

With just 30 days left to comply with PSG laws, Anthony Gordon’s future started to gain a lot of attention.

TEAMtalk has confirmed that Newcastle was the team that contacted Liverpool about the former Everton winger’s possible return to Merseyside.

Jarell Quansah, a center back, was the subject of a cash-plus-player deal that was proposed to send him to St. James’ Park.

But Liverpool had no intention of losing Quansah, and Newcastle thought Gordon would cost too much for a direct cash trade, valuing him at about £80 million.

In the end, Newcastle traded Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest for £35 million and Yankuba Minteh to Brighton for £30 million in order to assist balance their books.

Still, there is still conjecture concerning Gordon. Conversely, Fraser Gillan, our transfer insider, has discovered that Gordon to Liverpool is still a possibility.

Additionally, Gordon himself was “over the moon” at the prospect of rejoining his boyhood club, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. Gordon was enrolled by Liverpool as a young player and, at the age of sixteen, joined the Everton academy.

“I’ve been informed that the agreement between Liverpool and Newcastle was never particularly close,” Romano remarked. “Liverpool and Newcastle spoke with one another.” They talked about the possibilities, but Liverpool couldn’t afford it and couldn’t make it work.

The fact that Liverpool didn’t want to part with some of their greatest players made the swap agreement extremely difficult. Thus, it was merely a discussion or a notion; it was never anything substantial.

“The player was ecstatic and eager to sign with Liverpool.” However, like Alexander Isak with Chelsea, there was never anything truly solid between the two teams at the end.

There’s a chance that the Gordon drama will continue into the summer and affect Newcastle’s preseason plans.

The dynamic winger, who led the Premier League in goals and assists last year, is reportedly something the Magpies are desperate to hang onto. With the crucial PSR deadline being over, their resolve has only grown.

A recent update from talkSPORT claims that Newcastle has a strategy in mind that they believe will definitively put an end to the Gordon rumors.

They claim that even though Gordon has only been in Newcastle for a year, the Magpies intend to extend an offer to him for a new deal that will have far better conditions.

Gordon currently makes £60,000 a week, but if he signs a contract, his income will increase significantly.

“To ward off interest from the Premier League big-guns, Newcastle are ready to hand Anthony Gordon a lucrative new contract,” the report said.

Gordon would make it quite evident that he is not planning to leave St. James’ Park anytime soon if he were to sign a new contract.
