Newcastle are increasingly confident of winning fight for record-breaking midfielder

Newcastle United hope to sign Rory Finneran from Blackburn Rovers

NEWCASTLE UNITED are increasingly confident of winning the battle to sign teenage sensation Rory Finneran.

In the coming weeks, 16-year-old midfielder Finneran—who is thought to be among the best young players in the nation—is expected to join Newcastle’s academy.

Blackburn Rovers, who had hoped to convince the young player to sign his first professional agreement at Ewood Park, presently have him on their books.

When Finneran, then just 15 years and 312 days old, came off the bench during Blackburn’s FA Cup victory over Cambridge United in January, he made headlines as the team’s youngest-ever senior player.

The 16-year-old Irishman, who leads the Republic of Ireland’s Under-17 team, can now sign a contract with another team and leave Blackburn. He was born in Ireland.

Numerous offers have been made to him; Newcastle is exerting further pressure to get him to leave his first club and move to Tyneside.

The Magpies are getting more and more optimistic that their efforts will pay off, and they want to be able to officially announce Finneran as a Newcastle player before the new campaign begins.

If verified, the move will represent a significant victory for Newcastle’s youth system and a serious setback for Blackburn, who had intended to integrate Finneran into their starting lineup for the upcoming season.

Another 16-year-old, Aaron Epia, is expected to sign with Newcastle as well. The defender has decided to quit Everton in order to go to the Northeast.

Towards the close of the previous season, Epia showed promise during a trial with Newcastle, and he has now announced on social media that he will be moving permanently to Tyneside. Next season, he should be playing for Newcastle’s Under-18 team.

“I would like to express my gratitude to all of the Everton staff and players who have contributed to my growth over the past seven years,” Epia stated. It’s been an amazing journey. Though it has been difficult to choose, I believe that it is now time for me to take on a new task. I want to send my best wishes for the club’s future to them.
