Everton, Leicester City, and Southampton have all started talks to recruit Espanyol striker Martin Braithwaite, according to Tipsbladet. The Danish news site stated on 2 July that the Denmark international is in demand following a “absolutely terrific” year in which he won the Golden Boot and scored 22 goals in La Liga.
The Spanish club also wants to keep the 33-year-old and plans to offer him a new deal.
Everton must avoid signing Martin Branthwaite
The fact that he is 33 suggests he is nearing the end of his career.
While he had a strong season in La Liga 2, scoring 22 goals, it is unclear whether he can duplicate this form in the Premier League, especially given his age.
Everton would be taking a major risk by signing a player who may fail to adjust to the demands of England’s top flight.
Given his age, the Danish striker is unlikely to have a long-term influence at Goodison Park.
To prepare for the future, the club should prioritise signing younger players who can grow with the team.
Signing Braithwaite would be a short-term solution that does not reflect the club’s long-term goals.

Adding the 33-year-old would increase competition for positions and alter the team’s balance, as he would only join if he received first-team football and may not be an improvement above present choices.
