Everton big favourites to beat Arsenal and Chelsea to another sensation following three-deal blitz

TEAMtalk believes that Everton and Brighton are leading the fight to recruit St. Patrick’s Athletic starlet Mason Melia.

According to the outlet’s website on July 3, the Toffees are battling the Seagulls ahead of a slew of interested Premier League clubs as they want to add a fourth “sensation” to their squad this summer.

Everton have apparently put a “real focus” on “exciting” players, and only sealed a deal for former Arsenal attacker Omari Benjamin on July 2, while two further arrivals were announced the same day, with Partick Thistle announcing Ceiran Loney’s departure and Linfield announcing Braiden Graham.

Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Manchester City are all claimed to be interested in the 16-year-old, but the Toffees and Brighton are “big favourites” since both are willing to clinch a deal for Melia and keep him at St. Patrick’s until he becomes 18.

Sean Dyche stated that there were few talents in the club’s academy who were ready to break through and help the first team last season [Liverpool Echo, 9 March], and it appears that the club took note.

Completing agreements for three brilliant prospects in the space of two days demonstrates a strong desire to reload the next generation on Merseyside, and if they can acquire a fourth in Melia, it will be an even more spectacular haul.

The teenager has already played senior football in Ireland, making his debut at the age of 15, and has appeared in 39 games, scoring seven goals.

Only a year ago, it looked Everton were forced to sell the future for short-term gain, when players such as Ellis Simms and Ishé Samuels-Smith left for minor payments due to chronic financial concerns at Goodison Park.

Finally it seems the tide has turned and there is now a drive to make up for those that were sacrificed previously.

And, with Iliman Ndiaye’s permanent appearance in the first squad being confirmed, the Toffees have three senior additions for the summer window after Tim Ireogbunam and Jack Harrison, making for a fantastic week thus far.

There may yet be high-profile exits this summer, but given how sad recent transfer windows have been, there has been a notable improvement of late.
