Aston Villa have confirmed four players have signed professional contracts.
Aston Villa have announced that four players have signed professional contracts with them. Charlie Pavey, I-Lani Edwards, Sam Lewis, and Ajani Burchall have all signed with Villa after impressing with the club’s under-18 team in the U18 Premier League in recent seasons.

Starting with Pavey, the versatile 18-year-old has spent several years at the academy and appeared in 18 U18 Premier League games last season. He secured a scholarship with the club in July 2022, and academy boss Mark Harrison stated, “He has a high level of technical quality and plays with a lot of passion.” He will be a member of our under-21 and UEFA under-19 Youth League squads this season.”
Edwards, a central midfielder, has been with the club since he was ten years old and will play for the under-21 and Youth League squads next season.
Harrison pointed out: “I-Lani is a local player who has been at the academy for a number of years and has good technical and physical qualities as a central midfield player.” Burchall joined Villa from Bournemouth in July 2021, signing his first professional contract five months later. Harrison remarked, “Congratulations to Ajani on getting a new professional deal after being very unfortunate with injuries over the last 18 months. We are delighted to have him back and look forward to seeing him play this season.”
Lastly, goalkeeper Lewis – who has been with the club since under-9s – has also been rewarded with a pro deal.
Harrison commented: “Sam is a goalkeeper with very good technique and good potential, and we look forward to seeing how he develops this season. He will be part of our under-21 and UEFA under-19 Youth League squad this season.”
