Burnley turn attention to former Premier League Player Of The Year to replace Vincent Kompany

HITC is aware that Burnley has now focused their search for a new manager on a previous Premier League Player of the Year winner.

After Vincent Kompany, who led Burnley back to the Premier League in his first season, was enticed to Bayern Munich to take Thomas Tuchel’s place, Burnley’s summer preparations were called into question.

After the German team lost the Bundesliga title for the first time since Borussia Dortmund won the league in the 2011–12 season, Kompany arrived at Bayern with a massive task ahead of him.

Regarding Burnley, the Lancashire team was demoted under Kompany’s leadership during the previous campaign. It seems that they have focused their search on a former Premier League player.

Burnley make move for former Premier League Player Of The Year

According to sources who spoke with HITC, Burnley is now focused on Scott Parker and intends to name him as their next head coach.

After failing to sign players like Frank Lampard and Ruud van Nistelrooy, the Clarets wanted Denmark head coach Kasper Hjulmand to take over at Turf Moor.

According to HITC, Burnley was optimistic that the Dane would accept their contract offer this week and was confident in appointing the Danish head coach.

However, despite being close to a deal, Burnley have moved on from Hjulmand and have now turned to Parker with the hope the former Fulham and Bournemouth is the right man to guide them back to the Premier League.

As mentioned, the Englishman certainly has experience of leading a side to the Premier League from the Championship after achieving this feat on both occasions during his managerial career.

Parker will bring experience to Burnley

After departing Club Bruges in March 2023, the 43-year-old has not played in football since. During his 12 games in charge of the Belgian team, he only managed to win two games.

But his two Championship runs were particularly noteworthy since the Englishman has a strong history of developing a group of players and a culture that produces success in the second division of English football.

The Englishman’s winning percentage at Fulham was 35 percent. With a 53% victory percentage, his tenure at Bournemouth was much better.
