Burnley set to announce signing of controversial player soon – Bad boy was kicked out of squad

Rumours from Brazil state that Burnley has agreed to sign Lucas Pires from Santos.

According to Globo Esporte, the South American team will retain a portion of any future transfers, with the Clarets paying €2.5 million for the acquisition.

Pires has had his medical with Burnley already, and the news is expected to be released in the next few days.

Throughout his early career, the 23-year-old left-back at Santos had shown a great deal of promise.

However, he was discovered partying in 2023, when the team was fighting relegation to the second division, and he was subsequently cut from the roster.

Santos chose to loan him to Cádiz for the previous season for this reason. He spent a year in Spain, playing in thirty games, but he was not part of the Santos team that was demoted.

It was always doubtful that the Brazilian team would sign him, and Burnley were eager to finalise the deal now that he had returned from loan.
