Journalist Ben Jacobs reports that Tottenham Hotspur is still keeping an eye on Andre Trindade of Fluminense in their quest to bolster their team with a number six.
Spurs have been connected to Fluminense’s Andre.
Given that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is in the last year of his contract, it should be common knowledge that he is leaving Spurs.
Over the past few months, a number of successors for the Dane have been suggested; but, Andre is one player who has not been connected to a summer transfer to Spurs.
Prior to the January transfer window, the 22-year-old was mentioned as a possible target for the Lilywhites. According to rumors from the previous season, Ange Postecoglou’s team was interested in the midfield player, who was reportedly valued at £30 million (Globo Esporte).
Subsequent reports from other sources even claimed that Tottenham had dispatched scouts to Brazil in order to monitor the development of the Fluminense star (Lance).
Spurs are still monitoring Andre
Spurs are still interested in Andre, according to Jacobs, but Fulham and the young player now have a verbal understanding over Andre’s departure if Joao Palhinha departs Craven Cottage.
Regarding Tottenham’s search for a defensive midfield player, the journalist stated on The Last World On Spurs podcast: “I would also consider Andre of Fluminense.” In essence, Fulham and Joao Palhinha have a verbal agreement, but Fulham won’t move forward if Palhinha stays. In January, they came close to signing him, but Palhinha stayed.
“Fast-forward to the summer. Fulham is still in the box seat, but other suitors are welcome to apply as long as Palhinha isn’t finished. I am aware that Tottenham has been observing that guy for a few months, even during the Club World Cup.

It appears like Fulham is in the lead to sign Andre, while Tottenham is largely in the background, watching things happen.
If the Brazilian is Spurs’ top choice to take Hojbjerg’s place, I’d be shocked because one would think Ange would prefer a guy with a little more experience.
