Spurs signing reveals Celtic factor behind £25m move

New Tottenham Hotspur signing Archie Grey has revealed the Celtic aspect that influenced his decision to join Tottenham. The 18-year-old joined from Leeds in a move worth between £25 million and £30 million, with Joe Rondon moving the other way.

Grey has disclosed that he is a passionate Celtic supporter, which is how he met Ange Postecoglou.

“It’s a gigantic initiative led by Ange, and I want to be a part of it. I’m not going to lie; I’m a huge Celtics fan, so I adore him, and so does my entire family. To be fair, I haven’t talked much about this. He’s also a big component (in my decision to join Tottenham), because playing under a competent manager is vital to me, and I still have a lot to learn at the age of 18.

Brentford made an aggressive attempt to sign the player on a permanent basis, but Ange’s Spurs outbid them.

Leeds were saddened by the trade that took away their breakthrough potential. Spurs will undoubtedly benefit from their defeat, as they try to build on Ange’s outstanding inaugural season.

Grey is eligible for Scotland and could be enticed north of the border, but his future appears to be with the English National Team.
