A positive update about the possibility of Leeds United player Archie Grey joining Tottenham Hotspur has been revealed by journalist Alasdair Gold.
Gray’s arrival as a new Brentford player appeared all but inevitable on Saturday night; he was even en route to London for a medical examination.
However, a disagreement over the suggested payment plan between Brentford and Leeds caused the deal to collapse at the last minute.
And Spurs moved quickly after that collapse.
Grey, who made 52 appearances for Leeds in all competitions last season, is reportedly a target for Tottenham.
Grey was primarily regarded as a defensive midfielder, but he spent more than half of those minutes at right-back, which explains the tactical versatility he could offer Ange Postecoglou.
Gray now has two caps for England u21s and looks destined to be a regular for the senior side in the coming years – an immense talent.
That being said, Alasdair Gold has now shared his latest update on the deal on X.

For those who support Tottenham, the writer had good news: there was “growing confidence” in north London that an agreement would be reached shortly.
“Growing confidence now that Spurs will reach an agreement to sign Leeds United’s Archie Grey,” Gold shared.
“What a crazy two days. Tottenham taking advantage of the opening created by Brentford’s inability to reach an agreement with Leeds.
And this is precisely the kind of effort that supporters will want to see from the team in the transfer market, considering the financial power that Spurs possess.
Postecoglou desperately needs more talent to reach his aims at Tottenham, so securing Grey’s long-term contract is undoubtedly a good thing.
Grey has the ability to play in midfield right away and, when necessary, partner with Pedro Porro in defence.
Naturally, Tottenham needs to recruit other players this summer, so a deal for the Leeds midfielder shouldn’t be the first move.
Dani Olmo of RB Leipzig performed admirably on Sunday at Euro 2024, which is why Spurs are reportedly considering an interest.
And in all likelihood, Tottenham will need to bring in four or five top players for their starting lineup this summer—possibly even more if players like Richarlison and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg decide to leave the team.
