Chelsea offer Armando Broja to Premier League club as Everton want striker transfer

Everton target Armando Broja was offered to Leicester as part of Chelsea’s deal to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, The Times reports.

The tabloid said on its website on June 30 that the Albanian was one of three alternatives put up by the Stamford Bridge side, but despite interest from the Toffees and others, he “wants to pick the right move” instead, following two difficult years of injuries and a failed loan at Fulham.

According to Sky Sports (30 June), Chelsea are poised to deal Dan Golding to the Foxes in exchange for Dewsbury-Hall. Broja has emerged as a big target for the Toffees this summer [Ben Jacobs, 9 June], with doubt surrounding the future of top striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Now that the Toffees appear to have made it beyond the 30 June profit and sustainability calculation deadline without losing any key players, the transfer market can begin in earnest.

The sales of Lewis Dobbin to Aston Villa and Ben Godfrey to Atalanta appear to have done the trick, combined with savings made behind the scenes, in avoiding a third PSR penalty next season.

And with Iliman Ndiaye’s permanent relocation anticipated to be completed soon, there is obviously room for purchases.

It remains to be seen how much incoming business can be handled without additional sales, but a Broja acquisition is unlikely to be inexpensive.

Calvert-Lewin has yet to sign a contract extension and was involved in unsuccessful talks about a move to Newcastle, implying he is set to leave, with Sky Sports’ Alan Myers stating he does not anticipate a new agreement to be reached (24 June).

There is also rumoured interest in second-choice striker Beto, just a year after his arrival [Sabah, 17 June], and while both the Portuguese and English strikers have undeniable talent, it appears the club is willing to overhaul its strike force after a season in which goals were few.
