Yankuba Minteh rejects Everton to join Brighton in £33m deal from Newcastle United – Sky Sports

Yankubah Minteh has rejected an offer from Everton to join Brighton in a £33million deal from Newcastle, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Sky Sports Germany reporter writes on his personal X account (June 29) that the winger is scheduled to move into the AMEX Stadium on Sunday, with a physical to follow on June 30.

Everton was reportedly in the lead to sign him [Fabrizio Romano, June 24], but Plettenberg Minteh “rejected many options, including Everton.”

Everton highly unlikely to sign Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle

A deal for the 19-year-old winger always looked like it was going to get done from Newcastle’s point of view, but it was just a matter of where he ended up.

The Toffees were favourites simply because the Magpies wanted to bring Dominic Calvert-Lewin to St James’ Park and there were talks over a swap deal, but once Newcastle pulled out of those talks it was always unlikely.

Everton financially will struggle to splash in excess of £30million on a single player, and with Iliman Ndiaye en route to Goodison Park in a deal worth around £20million it was always unlikely both would join without a sale happening too.

Newcastle still has interest in Calvert-Lewin, but they had to sell to the highest bidder since they had to get rid of the player by the end of the month to avoid violating PSR.

Everton lost out on a great talent, but Sean Dyche shouldn’t be short of attacking options with Jack Harrison having already rejoined the team and Ndiaye following suit shortly.
