Manchester United warned not to pay the £50 million Everton ransom. Transfer of Jarrad Branthwaite suggested

Jarrad Branthwaite, an Everton defender, is expected to get no more than £50 million upfront from Manchester United, according to Mark Goldbridge.

Although personal conditions have apparently been agreed upon, United’s initial bid has reportedly been rejected. The Red Devils are eager to bring the England international to Old Trafford this summer [David Ornstein, 14 June].

The 22-year-old is reportedly available for around £70 million, and although Goldbridge of talkSPORT wants to see him in Manchester, he doesn’t want United to be held hostage. Sean Dyche’s team is reportedly seeking that amount.

He stated, “I think Branthwaite’s a really good player, and I like him and I want him to come to Manchester United,” in a Friday, June 28, interview with Toffee TV.

“I know what our budget is and we need to bring in six or seven players, but I don’t want to spend £80 million, £70 million, or £60 million on Branthwaite. On the other hand, I appreciate that Everton has their own battle to face.

“We have to go that we’re willing to walk away if we have to because the price is too much, and I think £50 million up front with add-ons is as high as I would go. I think Man United cannot be held to ransom over this.”

Will Jarrad Branthwaite leave Everton to sign a summer contract with Manchester United?

The previous few days have seen a rapid decline in discussion over Branthwaite’s future and a possible transfer to Old Trafford, following a flurry of conjecture in the run-up to and during the summer transfer window.

If that is the case, they probably wouldn’t take an upfront offer of £50 million for Branthwaite given that they have placed their valuation at £70 million, unless the deal’s add-ons were really tempting.

The Toffees are adamant that they are not in a situation where they must sell their star defender in order to balance the books at Goodison Park this season, despite their prior worries about PSR. They do not want to lose him.

From now until the conclusion of the summer window, there will probably be constant speculation about this deal. Although an exit doesn’t seem likely, it will be intriguing to watch if United heeds Goldbridge’s suggestion.
