Manchester City Locked In A Three-Way Battle For This Crystal Palace Ace: Decent Fit For Pep?

Manchester City, who wants to bolster their roster this summer, is in a three-way competition with Crystal Palace for star player Eberechi Eze.

The Guardian reported recently that Manchester City is in a three-way competition to sign Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze. It is believed that in the competition to sign the English attacker this summer, the Manchester United powerhouses will have to contend with Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

Eze’s Standout Performance During The Previous Season in Premier League Soccer

Eze had a successful season at Selhurst Park, leading the Eagles in the last third with a number of outstanding performances. The English playmaker made 31 appearances for Crystal Palace in the previous campaign, finishing with four assists and 11 goals in a variety of competitions.

With an average of 3.1 shots, 2.0 key passes, and 2.6 dribbles per game in the Premier League, the 25-year-old has proven to be a reliable performer in the final third. His pass success rate in the English top tier of 83.7% shows that he has even taken care of the ball when distributing possession in the opposition half (stats via whoscored).

Eze is under contract at the London club until the summer of 2027 which would make it difficult for Man City to sign him on a cut-price deal later this year.

Will Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, Get Along Well With Eze?

Eze can drive a couple runs with the ball in and around the opponent penalty area. He is a proficient dribbler when the ball is at his feet. He has the ability to provide a good opportunity for his teammates above him and typically produces some power while attempting long-range shots.

Eze would add quality and depth to the Mancunian club’s squad. He has what it takes to help Man City challenge for more major honours over the next few years. At 25, Eze’s best years are ahead of him, making him a good fit for Guardiola’s needs ahead of the new campaign. The English sensation operates primarily as a number ten position but can also play as a left-sided wide player if needed. He already knows the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at Man City if Pep Guardiola can find a way to bring him on board this summer.
